December 2013 Church Council Meeting
The regular scheduled church council meeting for December 15th was cancelled due to snowy weather. A brief council meeting was held on December 22 at 11:30 AM.
The meeting was opened by moderator Ken Bacon.
The prayer was offered by Owen Houghton.
The visioning team coordinator Bob Dunn presented the proposed Mission Statement of the United Church of Jaffrey which was created from our core values.
Our Mission is To Grow our Christian Faith through Acts of Love toward All.
A motion was made by Sandi Carland and seconded by Owen Houghton.
We voted to accept the mission statement as proposed by the Visioning Team.
The Interim Pastor Search Team discussed the progress on filling the position of interim pastor.
We discussed the compensation package which we are offering to the interim. It was the consensus of the council members that it would be advisable to consider an increase in the compensation if it is in the best interest of the church congregation. We recognize that this is important time of transition in our parish life. Ken Bacon will consult with the New Hampshire Conference, the Reverend Gary Schultz and find out if there are specific guidelines or protocol to follow in this situation.
There are two well qualified candidates that are interested in the interim pastor position. We supported the search team to act on the behalf of the congregation and modify the compensation package as appropriate.
The meeting adjoined at 12:00 PM.
Respectfully Submitted,
Maria Carbone,
Church Clerk
